Translating Untranslatable Emotion: Tabucchi’s saudade
Main Article Content
Abstract
Tabucchi, a translator and researcher of Portuguese literature, including Pessoa, attempted to translate into Italian “Saudade,” a unique emotion of the Portuguese. And he translated ‘saudale’ through literary texts such as Notturno Indiano, Requiem, and Per Isabel: Un mandala, which could not be translated as a single word or expression. In this presentation, I would like to consider the translation of emotions that could not be translated by the translator and writer Tabucchi.
