Abstract

This paper focuses on the problem of ‘minoritization’ in comparative and world literary studies. It questions the extent to which comparative theories of world literature recognize the ‘minor’ in rethinking the universal. Proposing ways in which minoritized languages and literatures can be recognized as having more cultural agency than is currently acknowledged, it aims to generate a new dynamic for refiguring naturalized notions of the universal.
